Rabbi Dr. Donniel Hartman is president of the Shalom Hartman Institute,
a Jerusalem based research and education institute offering pluralistic Jewish thought and education to scholars, rabbis, educators, and Jewish community leaders.

The institute's goal is to strengthen Jewish peoplehood, identity and pluralism, enhance the Jewish and democratic character of Israel, and 
ensure that Judaism is a compelling force for good.

Hartman established an ordination program for rabbis - men and women – 
outside of existing Orthodox rabbinical frameworks in Israel and has argued for the need or Israelis to accept a two state solution recognizing Palestinian interests.

An Orthodox rabbi, Hartman is the author of several highly regarded books,
including "Putting God Second: How to Save Religion from Itself", and is the host of 
“For Heaven’s Sake,” one of the most popular Jewish podcasts in North America.
