Holocaust Education Week- Without Words: Examining the Holocaust and the Experience of First Nations in Canada

Without Words is a short film focusing on a Holocaust survivor, Pinchas Gutter, and a residential school survivor, Rita Okimawinninew, who cross paths sparking a journey of healing. Cree director, Jules Koostachin (Rita’s daughter) participated in the 2010 March of Remembrance and Hope, an educational trip to Germany and Poland, designed to teach students of different backgrounds about the dangers of intolerance through the study of the Holocaust. Panel discussionon the distinctiveness and parallels between the Holocaust and other genocides includes Holocaust survivors, members of the First Nations, and past participants in the March of Remembrance and Hope program.
